Design examples
It goes without saying that bathrooms differ according to size and shape. Nevertheless, all bathrooms share certain common features which it pays to be aware of when designing toilets and bathrooms for people with disabilities.
We hope that the following three examples of functional bathrooms from a sheltered housing project for the elderly, a hospital and a hotel can provide inspiration for all those tasked with planning and project design that cater to the individual, changing needs of users.
The examples were prepared in collaboration with users and occupational therapists and take into consideration the most common types of mobility aids, different relocation scenarios and adaptation to different users and progressive illness. In other words, all the rooms are geared for the future and can be adapted to changing needs.
